Sovereign
God is Sovereign. He is completely free. He acts according to His own will, and not according to necessity or compulsion...

  • The sovereignty of God consists in the independence of His will, in consulting only His own intelligence and discretion, in the selection of His goals, and the means of accomplishing them.
  • In other words, the sovereignty of God is infinite benevolence directed by infinite knowledge.
  • God consults no one in respect to what shall be done by Him. He asks no one's permission to do and require what His own wisdom dictates.
Whatever the LORD pleases He does, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deep places. Ps 135.6

The LORD of hosts has sworn, saying, "Surely, as I have thought, so it shall come to pass, and as I have purposed, so it shall stand"
Isa 14.24

In Him
[Jesus] also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him [God] who works all things according to the counsel of His will Eph 1.11

For He in His own time will reveal who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords
1 Tim 6.15

You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.
Rev 4.11

[The 10 kings who are servants of Antichrist...] will make war with the Lamb [Jesus], and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful. Rev 17.14

And He
[Jesus] has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Rev 19.16

God is just and fair...

  • God has moral equity. He does not practice favoritism.
  • God is unbiased and unprejudiced.
For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, the mighty, and a terrible God, who does not respect persons nor take a bribe. He executes justice for the fatherless and widow, and loves the stranger in giving him food and clothing. Deu 10.17-18

And now let the fear of the LORD be on you. Be careful and act wisely, for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.
2 Chron 19.7

You
[God] are just in all that has befallen us; For You have dealt faithfully, But we have done wickedly. Neh 9.33

Righteous are You, O LORD, And upright are Your judgments.
Ps 119.137

For there is no respect of persons with God.
Rom 2.11

Since you call on a Father
[God] who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. 1 Pet 1.17
Love
God is loving. He seeks the highest good of people, even at His own infinite cost.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3.16

God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 5.8

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
1 John 4.16

God is merciful...

  • God is tenderhearted.
  • God knows your sorrows, and understands your weaknesses.
  • God shows compassion toward you.
And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows Ex 3.7

We do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Heb 4.15-16

The LORD passed before him
[Moses] and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth" Ex 34.6

The mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness is to sons of sons
Ps 103.17

When He
[Jesus] saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Mt 9.36

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)
Eph 2.4-5

God is gracious...

  • Mercy [panel above] is God not giving you the punishment you DO deserve.
  • Grace [this panel] is God giving you the salvation and joy you do NOT deserve.
The LORD passed before him [Moses] and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth" Ex 34.6

In Jesus we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of God's grace
Eph 1.7

Even when we were dead in sins, God has made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are saved), and has raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Eph 2.5-7

The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men
Titus 2.11
God is good   God said, "I will make all My goodness pass before you" Ex 33.19a

The LORD is good to all. His tender mercies are over all His works.
Ps 145.9
Righteous
God is righteous. His laws and His actions are exactly right.

The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul...

  • The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
  • The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart.
  • The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
  • The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever.
  • The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. Ps 19.7-9

"I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the LORD. Jer 9.24b

True
God is true and genuine.
The LORD is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. Jer 10.10a

[Jesus prayed to the Father...] Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17.3
Truthful
God speaks the truth. He CANNOT lie.
He [God] who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change His mind; for he is not a man, that he should change His mind. 1 Sam 15.29

[Jesus prayed to the Father...] Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. John 17.17

God did this
[made an oath] so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. Heb 6.18; see also Titus 1.2
Faithful
God is steadfast and consistent. He is trustworthy. He is faithful. He CANNOT fail to honor His promises.
God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Num 23.19

He
[God] who calls you is faithful, who also will do it [fulfill His promises]. 1 Thes 5.24

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Cor 1.9
Persistent
God is persistent. He is patient. He is long-suffering toward you.

God doesn't "fly off the handle" so to speak -- no, no, NEVER!
And the LORD passed before him [Moses] and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth" Ex 34.6

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
2 Pet 3.9

[God said...] For My name's sake I will put off My anger, and for My praise I will hold back for you, that I do not cut you off. Isa 48.9

But You, O God, are God full of pity, and gracious, long-suffering, and rich in mercy and truth.
Ps 86.15

Or do you despise the riches of His
[God's] kindness, and the forbearance and long-suffering, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? Rom 2.4
